Sustain Food + Fuel Christmas Appeal 2021

Thank you for joining  in our Christmas Appeal 2021!

Many local people support the Sustain Foodbank that runs out of TBC and we are grateful for your ongoing support.  Sustain gives out over 70 food parcels each week to those in crisis and food poverty, and the recent rise in energy prices have put added strain on these families.  That is why this Christmas at TBC we have two different opportunities for you to join us in helping to give the most vulnerable in our community enjoy Christmas, and have launched Sustain Fuel Bank to run alongside our annual Christmas Hamper Appeal.

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.” Matthew 25:35-36

Sustain Fuel Bank is run by Tonbridge Baptist Church in response to the recent increase in fuel prices.  This winter many people will need to make the impossible choice between putting food on the table or heating their homes.  For many people at risk of hunger, the cost of gas and electricity means they have little money left for heating their home.

Sustain Fuel Bank has been established to work alongside our food bank to provide two weeks’ emergency fuel credit.  By doing this we are not only able to help people by providing food but also ensuring people have fuel to cook it and a warm home to eat it in.

If you give regularly to TBC you can transfer by BACS into the normal account, with the reference “Fuel Bank”, or if you’d like to give a one off donation please use the link below.

All donations to Sustain Fuel Bank are ringfenced and restricted for the work of the fuel bank.

We would love to support people in our local community this Christmas who have had a particularly tough and challenging year.  One way we can do this is to give a hamper full of Christmas food.  Simply purchase the list of food provided, put it in a bag or box together, and drop it off at Tonbridge Baptist Church on Sunday 28 November (9:30am-midday) or Monday 29 – Tuesday 30 November (9:30am-4pm).  We will then package them into gift bags and distribute them around our community.

  • Mince pies
  • Christmas pudding
  • Custard
  • Tin of sweet biscuits
  • Christmas chocolates or sweets suitable for children
  • Christmas cake or chocolate log
  • Cheese straws

Please ensure all goods are alcohol free and best before dates are after January 2022.
